Here’s How Many Vehicles BYD Has Sold in Pakistan

Hub Power Company (Hubco) has announced that Chinese electric vehicle giant BYD has sold more than 2,000 cars in Pakistan within six months, with over 500 additional orders already placed for its Shark model.

Currently, the company is importing completely built units (CBUs) under the normal duty structure. To strengthen its local presence, Hubco is developing a completely knocked down (CKD) assembly plant in Gharo, designed to produce up to 25,000 vehicles annually.

According to an analyst briefing cited by Topline Securities, the project is estimated at $150 million, structured on a 60:40 debt-to-equity ratio. Financial close is targeted for the last quarter of 2025, with CKD production expected to begin within two years. Both domestic and international lenders are supporting the initiative, with a term sheet already signed.

Hubco clarified that the venture is structured as a 50:50 joint project between its subsidiary, Hub Power Holding, and Mega Conglomerate. BYD itself has not taken an equity stake — a departure from its typical global strategy of full ownership in markets such as Thailand and Brazil.

On the infrastructure side, Hubco said it plans to install EV charging stations every 150–200 kilometers along the Karachi-to-Peshawar Motorway within the next six months. The company noted that Chinese-made chargers have significantly reduced costs, making stations financially sustainable with the daily use of just three cars.
