Chinese foreigners in Islamabad are trapping wild animals around the E7 hill road area before taking them away to eat, which is against the law. This has been going on for a while already, but this time the culprits were caught on video by a daring reporter, Ayesha Khan, who also captured their cars and their license plates.
These Chinese men were seen using two different Toyota Corolla cars in white, with license plates CX 001 and AKW 944, both registered in Islamabad. The CX 001 car is a Corolla Altis Grande 1.8 automatic, while the AKW 944 car is most likely an automatic GLI. Internationally, these cars are known as the E170 generation Corolla.
The culprits have been seen capturing all kinds of wild animals, including foxes, monkeys, rabbits, wild boars, dogs, and essentially any animal that they could get their hands on. One of the captured videos shows a wild boar-like animal lying in the trunk of the AKW 944 car.
The Islamabad Wildlife Management Board (IWMB), which is a government institution, is also involved in this case. IWMB managed to recover one of the trappers that was in use by these Chinese culprits. A poor dog was captured by this trapper which was then taken to a clinic for treatment. IWMB still has custody of this trapper still and reported the incident at the F7 Kohsar police station.
Both the IWMB and Ayesha Khan, who captured the video, reported this incident separately at the Kohsar police station, with an FIR now registered. However, no action has been taken by the police ever since. They also chose to register the reporter’s FIR instead of IWMB, which, again, is a govt institution that would have made the FIR’s case a lot stronger. This raises concerns about the police’s willingness to take the matter seriously.
We tried to reach out to the Kohsar police station for an official comment on the matter, but did not receive a response.
