Lahore Electric Supply Company (LESCO) has announced a new decision regarding the replacement of faulty electricity meters across its service areas. The company stated that it would begin a comprehensive initiative to replace outdated or malfunctioning meters in a bid to improve service delivery and reduce power theft.
The decision comes as part of LESCO’s ongoing efforts to enhance the efficiency of its electricity distribution network and provide better services to consumers. Under the new plan, LESCO will replace old meters with modern, smart meters that offer real-time data tracking and more accurate billing.
The company’s spokesperson explained that the new meters would allow for more precise measurement of electricity consumption, reducing billing errors and ensuring that customers are charged accurately. The smart meters will also allow consumers to monitor their electricity usage online, giving them more control over their consumption and helping them manage their energy costs more effectively.
The initiative is expected to be rolled out in phases, starting with the most affected areas, and is part of LESCO’s broader strategy to reduce energy losses and improve the overall reliability of the power supply. The company has also emphasized that the replacement process will be carried out with minimal disruption to consumers.
The move has been welcomed by many residents, as power outages and inaccurate billing have long been major issues in LESCO’s service areas. The company has assured consumers that the new meters will contribute to a more transparent and efficient power distribution system, benefiting both LESCO and its customers in the long run.
