PIA to Launch Flights to New International Destinations

The National Assembly was informed on Monday that Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) is expanding its flight operations to new destinations as part of ongoing restructuring, while also being briefed that women are increasingly being integrated into the Pakistan Army.

Parliamentary Secretary for Defense Zeb Jaffar told lawmakers during Question Hour that PIA earned an operating profit of Rs. 9.3 billion and a net profit of Rs. 26 billion last year. She said the national flag carrier, after financial reforms, is now expanding operations to the Middle East, along with adding new routes to Kuala Lumpur, Baku, and Istanbul.

On the same occasion, Zeb Jaffar highlighted that 80% of fields in the Pakistan Army are now open for women’s recruitment. She noted that more than 5,000 women are currently serving in the Army, with around 700 commissioned over the past three years.
