Spotify has announced a new partnership with OpenAI, allowing users to explore and discover songs, playlists, and podcasts directly through ChatGPT. The collaboration introduces AI-powered recommendations that connect Spotify’s catalog with chat queries in real time.
To use the feature, users can start a chat in ChatGPT and mention Spotify in their request. On the first use, they’ll be asked to connect their Spotify account. Once linked, ChatGPT can search for songs, albums, artists, or podcasts, then display the results in the chat. Clicking any result will open it directly in the Spotify app.
Spotify says the feature works across both Free and Premium accounts. Free users can access Spotify’s existing playlists such as Discover Weekly and New Music Friday, while Premium subscribers can have ChatGPT generate personalized playlists based on mood, genre, or themes.
Here is what the integration looks like.
The integration also supports podcast discovery, with users able to ask for shows or episodes based on topics, hosts, or guests. While playback isn’t available inside ChatGPT, users can jump to the Spotify app to listen to their recommendations.
The new AI-powered feature is available in English across 145 countries and supports ChatGPT’s Free, Plus, and Pro tiers on both web and mobile platforms.
Spotify said the integration is still in its early phase and may not deliver consistent results yet, but promised ongoing improvements. The company also clarified that connecting a Spotify account to ChatGPT is optional, and no audio or video data from Spotify will be shared with OpenAI for model training.
It appears that the feature is not available in Pakistan as of yet, but if you start seeing it on your ChatGPT app, let us know in the comments.
