The UAE government has partnered with Google to offer university students nationwide a free one-year subscription to the Gemini Pro plan, granting them access to some of the world’s most advanced generative AI tools.
This landmark initiative supports the UAE’s National Artificial Intelligence Strategy, which focuses on developing a highly skilled, AI-literate workforce. Eligible students aged 18 and above can register for the complimentary subscription using their personal email addresses until December 9, 2025.
The programme aims to integrate AI into higher education, enabling students to enhance their research capabilities, boost creativity, and prepare for careers shaped by emerging technologies.
Omar Sultan Al Olama, Minister of State for Artificial Intelligence, Digital Economy, and Remote Work Applications, said the initiative underscores the UAE’s commitment to empowering its youth through technology.
“The UAE continues to prioritize developing national talent through the application of AI technologies,” he stated, emphasizing that the government’s strategy focuses on fostering innovation and lifelong learning through strategic partnerships.
The collaboration comes amid a sharp increase in demand for AI-powered study aids.
Anthony Nakache, Google’s Managing Director for the Middle East and North Africa, noted that searches related to AI and education in the UAE have risen by 110% in the last two months compared to the same period last year.
“This demonstrates a strong desire among students and educators to explore how AI can enhance learning and creativity,” Nakache said. “Through our partnership with the UAE Government, we’re ensuring every student can benefit from Gemini’s most advanced models and tools.”
The free Gemini 2.5 Pro plan gives students access to a powerful set of AI-driven tools and productivity features, including:
2 TB of cloud storage – Additional space on Google Drive, Photos, and Gmail to manage study materials and coursework.
With these tools, students can transform lecture notes into podcast-style summaries, generate interactive quizzes, and create personalized study materials, helping them thrive in an increasingly AI-driven academic and professional environment.
