Renowned Pakistani designers Maheen Khan, Moazzam Abbasi, Ayesha Tariq, Rizwanullah, and Zain Hashmi showcased collections that incorporated signature Pakistani elements such as ajrak patterns, floral embroidery, and handcrafted fabrics.

From the Chinese side, designer Liang Suyun presented an elegant collection, while Aqeel Chaudhary, a Pakistani entrepreneur based in China, exhibited a jewellery line inspired by the harmony of both cultures.

Models strutted down a scenic runway set against the ancient stones of the Great Wall, highlighting a visual fusion of two rich textile traditions.

Celebration of 60 Years of Friendship

The event drew a diverse audience, including senior Chinese officials, diplomats, business leaders, and members of the media.

Speaking at the ceremony, Pakistan’s Ambassador to China, Khalil Hashmi, said the fashion show symbolised the “living spirit” of the ancient Silk Road, serving as a modern bridge of “fabric, art, and friendship” between the two countries.

He also noted that the timing of the event was particularly meaningful, as it coincided with the 60th anniversary of President Ayub Khan’s visit to the same section of the Great Wall — the first-ever by a Pakistani leader.

Ambassador Hashmi emphasised that the showcase was not only about culture but also commerce, underscoring Pakistan’s growing fashion industry and its potential in the Chinese market. “This event demonstrates the creative harmony between Pakistani design and Chinese innovation,” he said, adding that it would help pave the way for deeper trade and cultural partnerships.

Meanwhile, Long Yuxiang, Chairman of the China International Cultural Communication Centre, described the fashion show as a reflection of the “all-weather friendship” between Pakistan and China.

He highlighted the shared cultural heritage and the common aspiration of both peoples to express creativity and progress through art and fashion. Long reaffirmed CICCC’s commitment to further expand cooperation with Pakistan’s fashion and creative industries in the years ahead.
