Rawalpindi to Get Rs. 1.2 Billion Mega Parking Plaza

The Punjab government has approved plans to build a large multi-storey parking plaza near Katchery Chowk to address severe parking and traffic issues in the area. The new facility will be constructed on the vacant land of Jinnah Park and will accommodate more than 1,000 vehicles, helping to reduce gridlock on the city’s busiest routes.

According to a senior official from the Punjab Highways Department, the parking plaza will cover an area of eight kanals and include a basement along with three floors. The official said the Rs. 1.25 billion project is currently in the final stages of approval, with construction expected to begin soon.

He added that the new facility will provide a secure parking solution for motorists using Mushtaq Baig Road and Jhelum Road, where on-street parking has long contributed to traffic jams.

The official further stated that the project’s completion has been targeted within one year and will be carried out alongside the Katchery Chowk remodeling scheme. Both projects aim to improve traffic flow and enhance urban mobility in the city.
