Sri Lanka Name ODI and T20I Squads for Pakistan Tour

Sri Lanka have announced their squads for the upcoming white-ball tour of Pakistan, marking the team’s return to international action for the first time since the 2025 Asia Cup.

The tour will comprise a three-match ODI series in Pakistan, followed by a T20I tri-series that also features Zimbabwe.

Charith Asalanka will captain the side in both formats—a decision that reflects Sri Lanka’s commitment to youthful leadership and continuity. This will be Asalanka’s first full assignment as captain across formats, a responsibility that comes at a time when Sri Lanka are seeking to rebuild consistency following a patchy run in limited-overs cricket.

The squads include a few notable changes. Left-arm pacer Dilshan Madushanka has been ruled out due to a knee injury, paving the way for 21-year-old Eshan Malinga to join the ODI setup.

Pakistan has already announced its ODI and T20I squads for the Sri Lanka tour and the upcoming tri-nation series.

For Pakistan, the series presents an opportunity to sustain momentum after a successful home campaign against South Africa, where they won the T20I series 2–1 and are on equal terms in the ODI series at 1–1. These contests also serve as continued preparation for the 2026 T20 World Cup, in which Pakistan will play all its matches in Sri Lanka.

The ODI series will precede the T20I tri-series. With both sides eager to refine their combinations, Pakistan-Sri Lanka encounters are expected to deliver the brand of competitive cricket that has defined their recent history—gritty, unpredictable, and full of edge.
