Speed camera system with special lights for enhanced visibility and operation in very low-light conditions
Karachi residents continue to debate the city’s e-challan fines, generating far more attention than similar penalties elsewhere in the country. In response, police officials have started evaluating whether certain fines should be reduced.
A senior police officer told Geo News, on the condition of anonymity, that authorities are actively discussing possible adjustments to e-challan amounts. He said police are consulting the Sindh government, and a decision on reducing some fines could come next week.
He clarified that the police will not issue blanket concessions. Instead, they may temporarily lower fines for selected violations while increasing enforcement and penalties for dangerous offenses.
The officer said the police will launch a major awareness campaign next week to inform the public about any upcoming changes and to reinforce traffic rules.
With pressure building from motorists across Karachi, officials are now working to determine which categories of fines may be revised and how enforcement will be strengthened in high-risk areas.
