CDA Approves Citywide Upgrade Plan For All Islamabad Sectors

The Capital Development Authority has approved a citywide rehabilitation plan that will upgrade every sector of Islamabad, with the authority committing to uniform road repairs, streetlight restoration and drainage improvements across the capital.

The decision was taken at a meeting chaired by CDA Chairman Muhammad Ali Randhawa, where officials reviewed the condition of civic infrastructure and discussed detailed surveys already completed for roads, streets and commercial centers.

The engineering wing has also finalized preliminary cost estimates for older sectors.

Under the plan, all sectors will receive the same level of road carpeting, patchwork and reconstruction. Existing footpaths will be repaired and new ones added where required.

The CDA also aims to restore malfunctioning streetlights and poles and install new lighting where needed to improve public safety and visibility.

Commercial hubs, including Super Market, Jinnah Super, Aabpara, Karachi Company and the Blue Area, will be upgraded as well. The CDA chairman directed that traders and business associations be consulted as repair work moves forward to minimize disruption for commercial activity.

The rehabilitation program also includes new signage, lane marking and rubber speed breakers. Upgrades to sewerage and drainage networks, including manholes and curb stones, are among the largest components of the project.

The chairman stressed that experienced architects must be brought in for beautification plans to ensure the upgrades enhance Islamabad’s overall environment.

Chairman Randhawa instructed officials to utilize internal resources and procure modern machinery to execute the plan efficiently. He said the initiative aims not only to improve civic services but to restore Islamabad’s aesthetic appeal through high-quality development work.

  • Dear CDA concerned officials Assalam o Alaikum, being a Senior citizen and resident of Islamabad since seventies your efforts are appreciated but few issues are to be addressed immediately like stray dogs in F-11/1 (St-75,73, Ali mkt and Cricket ground) I was attacked by Dogs at Fajar time, was lucky that I got saved, who is responsible for it? Please fix fused lights on St 75, opposite HNo 218, St 67, St 73 etc etc, St 75 is closed end road and it is extremely dangerous due to wild boars, porcupines coming from connected Nullah, these wild animals are moving freely at night due to poor garbage collections arrangements,Cleaning staff are not at all regular due to which cockroaches, rats and mosquitoes are rapidly increasing. Please take immediate action for daily garbage collections and wild animals removal. Best regards, Syed Fahim Balkhi, F-11/1.

  • Wonderful to know. Thank you CDA Chairman for taking steps to look after our beloved Capital. It is the need of the hour. We look forward to some nice repairs, maintenance and additions to our surroundings.
    Regards and best wishes,
    a resident of the capital

  • Islamabad is in awful condition, corruption in CDA FGEHF is rampant only lip service, FGEHF & CDA are outplaying each other in poor management. There is dire need to put Islamabad under one civic body otherwise in near future it is going to create great disparity in sectors of Islamabad, unfortunately FGEHF does not have the expertise and willingness to compete.

  • !السلام علیکم
Kindly also do something about the blacksmiths, who had their workshops opposite the houses of I&T center of G-9/1. They had converted the footpaths into their workshops and had broken and damaged the pedestrian passages. Thankyou.

  • It hope the plan is implemented. Street lights in my sector are not operational for the last so many years despite numerous complaints.
My son was robbed at gun point near the house gate due darkness.

  • Excellent decision under able leadership of chairman sb. I would request to please make a surprise visit of sector G.6 and its sub sectors 1,2,3,4 and see how badly they need rehabilitation. The foot paths, garbage collection, etc all have to be reviewed. Living in this sector for more than 40 years and still remember the earlier days when our sectors were properly looked after. But now no street work, street lights, footpath etc. therefore kind attention of relevant departments of CDA is being drawn. I wish Godspeed for this endeavour of honourable chairman CDA and good wishes for him. With respectful regards to all CDA officers and officials.

  • Thanks and would appreciate an early consideration on the points mentioned earlier. Regard

  • E12 is the oldest sector not developed. Was started in 1988 ie 37 years ago !
The road and sewage/ drainage work partially done in Sector F- 12/3, some years ago, has been damaged over a period. It needs repairs and maintenance now. Other remaining works of Sector development, like electricity, water, gas supply, construction of mosques, schools etc yet to be taken in hand . CDA is requested to expedite completion of the sector.

  • I would like to bring to your kind attention the increasing traffic violations and road misuse occurring at the newly constructed Golra Underpass on GT Road.
If you visit through underpass, you will observe that:

Most vehicles are not following traffic rules, and many drivers with illegal shortcuts, that cause traffic chaos and pose a serious risk of accidents.

Traffic signals are urgently needed to tackle this issue,

Several taxis, Cheezious riders, and bikes with green helmets are permanently parked

Then after this while entering I 14 roadside mechanics who have set up informal workshops along the new road, blocking lanes and creating unnecessary obstructions. These activities destroy the purpose and beauty of the newly constructed double road.
The underpass is a major public investment meant to improve traffic flow, and strict enforcement is essential to ensure safety and smooth travel for all commuters.

    Installing traffic signals,
    Deploying traffic wardens for enforcement,
Imposing fines on violators, and Removing roadside mechanics and illegal parking/encroachments.

This will significantly improve safety and ensure the underpass serves its intended purpose.

After entering in the I 14 double road is in acceptable condition but streets are worse and doesn’t seem to be part of CDA.
KINDLY BUILD THE ROADS especially I 14-4 Streets where I visited. Very deplorable condition. I don’t think so any CDA official been there…

  • Thank you CDA, Long awaited relief, Capital Islamabad needs help to bring all sectors back to life, especially all the G sectors, Govt and CDA employee housings, sewage disposal be stopped in the nulllah, speed limit sign in front of schools, colleges and hospital. Zebra crossings, Noise control from motor cycles and car decks, manicured walking and bicycling tracks. Motorcycle Driver training in intersections and side road, parking, standing, reversing. Standing in queue and being patient

  • Street 11A, F10/2 needs Street lights and road repair work as well as sanitation issues to be resolved. Thank you

  • Chairman CDA may kindly expedite the Development Work, suspended since long, in the upcoming sector C16/1, 2,3and 4 as well by resolving land payment issues to the local residents.Due to non resolution all such Development works remain suspended for years. Suspended Development frustrates genuine owners of plots.
