LESCO Gives Bad News to Consumers Looking to Pay Electricity Bills in Installments

The Lahore Electric Supply Company (LESCO) has abolished the instalment facility on current electricity bills as part of a major recovery campaign targeting defaulting government and private departments, 24NewsHD reported on Tuesday.

According to sources, consumers will now only be allowed instalments on outstanding arrears, with no flexibility offered on ongoing monthly bills.

NEPRA regulations allow consumers to avail of instalments twice a year; however, LESCO has suspended this option to accelerate recoveries. Officials said power connections are being disconnected for non-payment, and will not be restored until all arrears are cleared.

The move is aimed at tightening enforcement as LESCO struggles to meet its recovery targets.
