Xiaomi YU7 Outsells Tesla Model Y

Xiaomi’s YU7 mid-size luxury crossover SUV has become one of the top-selling EVs within months of launch. New sales figures for October 2025 reveal that Xiaomi delivered a total of 48,654 electric vehicles, with the YU7 accounting for 33,662 of those units.

Market analysts report that the YU7’s monthly sales outpaced domestic deliveries of the Tesla Model Y during the same period. Since the YU7 began reaching customers in July, its cumulative sales have already exceeded 70,000 units.

The YU7 is built on an 800V silicon-carbide high-voltage platform and offers multiple powertrain options. The entry-level rear-wheel-drive version features a single electric motor producing 235 kW and 528 Nm of torque, accelerating from 0–100 km/h in 5.88 seconds.

All-wheel-drive variants deliver even stronger performance, with output increasing to 365 kW and 690 Nm, cutting the sprint to 4.27 seconds. The flagship trim, named YU7 Max, reaches 508 kW and a hefty 866 Nm of torque, going from zero to 100 km/h in just 3.23 seconds.

Battery choices include a 96.3 kWh LFP pack for the 2WD and mid-tier 4WD models, offering up to 835 km of driving range based on CLTC testing. The high-performance 4WD version uses a 101.7 kWh NMC battery and delivers a range of 760 km.

Xiaomi’s fastest-charging model supports a 5.2C charging rate, allowing a jump from 10% to 80% battery in only 12 minutes or up to 620 km of range in 15 minutes.

Xiaomi is also rolling out new safety enhancements through over-the-air updates with Xiaomi HyperOS 1.11. The upgraded Xiaomi HAD Enhanced driver-assist suite now includes low-speed forward and reverse automatic braking (LAEB/RAEB), capable of stepping in from as little as 1 km/h and up to 30 km/h in reverse to prevent collisions with pedestrians, vehicles, bikes, and stationary objects like walls and barriers.

The update also introduces Mis-Acceleration Inhibition (MAI), designed to prevent accidents caused by accidental accelerator input during parking. For highway travel between 80 km/h and 135 km/h, the system now incorporates Emergency Steering Assistance (ESA), which enables rapid evasive maneuvers when braking alone may not prevent a major crash.

To celebrate its growing success, Xiaomi showcased a special “Crystal Purple” limited edition of the YU7 Max at the 2025 Guangzhou Auto Show.

These personalized finishes start at 11,000 yuan (approximately Rs. 438,750), and customers can pair them with custom alloy wheels, colored Brembo brake calipers, and premium trim options, including ceramic accents, gold-patterned carbon fiber, and even 24K gold details.
