Railways Minister Hanif Abbasi has warned that anyone traveling without a ticket as well as anyone helping them will be sent to jail. He issued the warning while chairing a meeting in Islamabad on Tuesday.
The session was attended by the Inspector General of Railways Police, the SP of the Rawalpindi division, and other senior officials. Railways Police briefed the minister on ongoing enforcement efforts and said that the ticket checking campaign has been strengthened on his instructions.
Abbasi stressed that the ministry will not tolerate fare evasion and that strict action will be taken across all trains and stations. He said that both the person traveling without a ticket and the person enabling it will go to jail.
During the briefing, officials reported that operations against ticketless travel are underway across the network. They also shared updates on the removal of long standing encroachments from railway land and said that the police are reclaiming every inch of occupied property.
The minister directed the department to maintain tough enforcement and ensure that railway revenue, safety, and property protection remain top priorities.

Good steps. This shud have been done ages ago.
Need to have oversight to see how far the minsters warning is implemented or was it a sermon to be taken as usual with no significant change in running the day to day affairs with corrupt system deep rooted. Taking on the positive note we look forward to see if corruption is not eliminated it may be reduced to the extent that will revive railway as we use to have in fifties.
Hahaha all punishments for ordinary citizens of Pakistan. The corrupt rules, the corrupt violates, the corrupt do all sins and crimes but lae falls on the nation
The system for Ticket issues at railway should be easy and comfortable for everyone. There are 100 passengers and only one person who issue tickets. How you can justify this problem. Firstly you have look in this matter at different railway station where passengers are facing this type of problems.
Vary good effert .I guss need more than that and need securty as well.enforcment is important not only in news.show those people on TV without ticket so people will aware of it.
Alhamdulillah I have more 5 decades of travelling experience by rail from LHR -KHI-LHR segment.
Number of without ticket passengers has reduced significantly particularly in major trains and routes. But still few passengers with help of railway staff sit in the train and all money go to staff pocket. That is what honourable minister is highlighting.
However this is not a major issue. Major issue is the difference in tickets cost of Business and AC sleeper Coaches and poor services provided by the railways no charging ports, bathrooms sanitation and non availability of water in toilets.
Continuous delays even in express trains such as Green Line, average delay is +2 hours.
These should be addressed first on priority basis.
