Islamabad Issues Traffic Advisory for December 8 and 9

Islamabad Traffic Police (ITP) issued a special advisory on Sunday, alerting commuters to heavy traffic expected on several major routes on December 8 from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. and on December 9 from 9 p.m. to 10 p.m.

The department said motorists should plan ahead, use alternate roads, and avoid unnecessary travel during these peak hours. ITP stated that Faisal Avenue, Islamabad Expressway, and Srinagar Highway will likely experience significant congestion.

The police also closed Express Chowk and the Marriott Gate for Red Zone entry, directing motorists to use Serena Road, NADRA Road, or Margalla Road instead.

The advisory outlined alternate routes for different directions:

• Rawalpindi to Islamabad commuters may take Rawal Road, 9th Avenue, Faqueer Aipee Road, or Srinagar Highway.
• Islamabad to Rawalpindi travelers may use Zero Point or Srinagar Highway toward 9th Avenue.
• Those arriving from Murree or Bhara Kahu may divert to Korang Road, Bani Gala route, Park Road, or Lehtrar Road.

ITP confirmed that officers will remain stationed at major points to manage traffic and assist drivers. The police advised citizens to stay informed through ITP Radio 92.4 FM and updates posted on Islamabad Police’s official social media platforms.
