Islamabad Traffic Police (ITP) issued a special advisory on Sunday, alerting commuters to heavy traffic expected on several major routes on December 8 from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. and on December 9 from 9 p.m. to 10 p.m.
The department said motorists should plan ahead, use alternate roads, and avoid unnecessary travel during these peak hours. ITP stated that Faisal Avenue, Islamabad Expressway, and Srinagar Highway will likely experience significant congestion.
The police also closed Express Chowk and the Marriott Gate for Red Zone entry, directing motorists to use Serena Road, NADRA Road, or Margalla Road instead.

ITP confirmed that officers will remain stationed at major points to manage traffic and assist drivers. The police advised citizens to stay informed through ITP Radio 92.4 FM and updates posted on Islamabad Police’s official social media platforms.
