Punjab Seals 14 Marriage Halls, Arrests Nine for Violating One-Dish Policy and Timing Rules

The Punjab government has launched a major crackdown on marriage halls and farmhouses violating provincial regulations, sealing 14 venues and arresting nine individuals in Lahore for breaching the One Dish policy, timing restrictions, and illegal loudspeaker use.

The action follows directives from the Punjab chief minister to ensure discipline at social events and control noise pollution.

Deputy Commissioner Lahore Syed Moosa Raza said special monitoring teams have been deployed across the city, with assistant commissioners ordered to conduct regular field inspections in their respective tehsils.

Over the past three days, officials inspected 562 venues, imposing fines of Rs150,000 in Nishtar Town for violations.

On December 5 alone, 267 inspections were carried out, leading to six venues being sealed.

Authorities stressed that marriage halls must strictly follow government SOPs, including limits on loud music and adherence to the One Dish rule.

Night squads are monitoring late-night events, while assistant commissioners supervise compliance at halls, marquees, and farmhouses.

Officials said the enforcement drive aims to uphold public order, enforce legal standards, and ensure a peaceful environment during social gatherings.
