Pakistan’s rising top-order batter Sameer Minhas created history with a record-breaking unbeaten century against Malaysia in the second match of the ACC Men’s U-19 Asia Cup 2025 at The Sevens Stadium on Friday.
Playing his Youth ODI debut, Minhas produced a sensational knock of 177 not out off 148 balls, striking 19 boundaries, including eight sixes.
His innings marked a remarkable start to his international youth career and immediately placed him among the top performers in the tournament’s history.
Minhas’ score of 177 is now the highest individual score ever recorded in the ACC Men’s U-19 Asia Cup, surpassing India’s Vaibhav Suryavanshi, who had scored 171 earlier the same day against the United Arab Emirates in the same city.
The innings also stands as the highest individual score by a Pakistani batter in Youth One-Day Internationals (YODIs) and is the joint fifth-highest overall in the format. The all-time YODI record is held by South Africa’s Jorich Van Schalkwyk, who scored 215 against Zimbabwe earlier this year.
Highest Individual Scores by a Pakistani Batter in YODIs
| Player | Score | Opposition | Year |
| Sameer Minhas | 177* | Malaysia | 2025 |
| Shahzaib Khan | 159 | India | 2024 |
| Shamyl Hussain | 150 | Sri Lanka | 2023 |
| Abdul Razzaq | 142 | Australia | 1997 |
| Shahid Yousuf | 126* | Sri Lanka | 2003 |
Minhas also played a key role in a marathon 293-run partnership for the third wicket alongside middle-order batter Ahmed Hussain, who scored a brisk century of his own.
The partnership is now the second-highest for any wicket in Youth ODIs, behind England’s 303-run stand between Dan Lawrence and Jack Burnham during the ICC Men’s U-19 World Cup 2016 match against Fiji in 2015.
Pakistan backed their strong batting performance with a ruthless bowling display and secured a dominant 293-run victory over Malaysia in their opening match of the U19 Asia Cup 2025.
