The upcoming season of the Pakistan Super League (PSL 11) is set to kick off on the very same day as the Indian Premier League (IPL 19) on March 26, 2026.
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has confirmed that the 11th edition of the PSL will begin in late March and will run until May 3, giving the tournament a 38-day window.
The 2026 season will mark the league’s expansion to eight teams, following the addition of two new franchises. Despite the larger lineup, the PCB has opted to keep the schedule compact rather than extending the duration of the tournament.
In previous seasons with six teams, the PSL followed a double round-robin format featuring 34 matches, with each side playing the others twice before the top four advanced to the playoffs.
While the PCB has yet to release the full fixture list for PSL 11, the limited timeframe suggests an increased number of double-headers and the possibility of a modified competition structure.
The PSL calendar has faced disruptions in recent years. Last season, the tournament was split into two legs after the Pakistan-India conflict delayed proceedings by 10 days, although all matches were eventually completed within 34 days.
Earlier editions of the league, up to PSL 8, were traditionally staged in February and March. However, ICC tournaments and Pakistan’s packed home schedule have pushed the PSL into the April–May window in the last two seasons.
The overlap with IPL 19, which is expected to run until the end of May, has long posed challenges for player recruitment, with many top overseas cricketers prioritizing the IPL.
The PCB, however, sees an upside to the clash, believing franchises will benefit from having players who commit to the PSL available for the entire season.
With the window now confirmed, franchises have clearer timelines for planning. The PSL player draft will take place after January, as the PCB is currently finalizing the tender process for the two new teams. The franchise auction is scheduled for January 8 in Islamabad.
