Through the tireless efforts of the Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC), Pakistan has, for the first time in its history, implemented a National Blood Transfusion Policy following its approval by the federal cabinet.
With SIFC’s support, the historic step of enforcing the National Blood Transfusion Policy has been achieved. The policy was facilitated through strong inter-ministerial and inter-provincial coordination led by SIFC.
As part of a revolutionary initiative in the health and biotechnology sectors, the policy introduces plasma fractionation, a process that will enable self-reliance in plasma manufacturing.
The policy will also help Pakistan gain access to international markets, creating export potential for plasma-derived products.
According to Dr Darnaz Jamal, Secretary of the Sindh Blood Transfusion Authority, a long-pending policy has finally been implemented with SIFC’s support.
She said the move reflects the government’s comprehensive strategy and sustained efforts to strengthen the health sector.
Brigadier (Retd) Dr Nazhat Mushahid, a hematology expert, congratulated SIFC, relevant ministries, provincial governments, and health experts for contributing their professional expertise in formulating the policy.
Meanwhile, Dr Ubaidullah, Chief Executive Officer of the Drug Regulatory Authority of Pakistan (DRAP), said the National Blood Transfusion Policy was implemented through the collective efforts of the Government of Pakistan, SIFC, and all stakeholders, and has now received federal approval.
He added that the historic initiative reflects SIFC’s strong commitment to innovation and self-reliance in Pakistan’s healthcare sector.
