The Pakistan Kabaddi Federation (PKF) has shifted into disciplinary mode following the Bahrain tournament incident involving national player Ubaidullah Rajput.
PKF Chairman Chaudhry Shafay Hussain has ordered a formal inquiry and convened an emergency general council meeting on 27 December to review the matter and decide on penalties. Officials say strict disciplinary action will be taken against anyone found violating federation rules.
PKF Secretary Rana Sarwar confirmed that 16 Pakistani players travelled to Bahrain for the private event without obtaining NOCs from either the federation or the Pakistan Sports Board. He reiterated that no official Pakistan kabaddi team was sent and that action will also be taken against those who falsely presented a side as “Pakistan”.
Responding to the backlash, Ubaidullah has issued a public apology, saying he believed he was joining a club side and was unaware of how the team would be branded. In a video message, he insisted he would not have participated had he known the game would be framed as an India–Pakistan clash, and appealed to fans not to label him a traitor.
The federation maintains that while mixed club tournaments are common, national players representing another country or displaying its flag is not acceptable, and has signalled zero tolerance for similar violations in future.
