In a separate development, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) detained an Indian Army officer, Lieutenant Colonel Deepak Kumar Sharma, along with Vinod Kumar, in connection with an alleged bribery scheme.

Lt Col Sharma is posted in India’s Ministry of Defense, and a corruption case has also been registered against his wife, Colonel Kajal, who is likewise associated with the defense establishment. Further details of the bribery allegations have not yet been made public.

Meanwhile, a former Indian soldier has been arrested near the Nepal border on suspicion of drug trafficking and illegal possession of explosives.

As reported from the border town of Raxaul, ex-serviceman Rajbir Singh was taken into custody after officials allegedly recovered about 500 grams of heroin and a grenade from him.

His associate, identified as Chirag, had previously been arrested with around 400 grams of heroin and a pistol. Investigators believe the two were operating a narcotics smuggling network in the area.
