Saudi Arabia Awards King Abdulaziz Medal to CDF Field Marshal Asim Munir

Saudi Arabia has awarded the King Abdulaziz Medal of Excellent Class to Pakistan’s Chief of Defence Forces and Chief of Army Staff, Field Marshal Asim Munir, in recognition of his role in strengthening defence cooperation and bilateral relations between the two countries.

Saudi state media reported that Defence Minister Prince Khalid bin Salman bin Abdulaziz presented the medal during a meeting with Field Marshal Munir in Riyadh. The King Abdulaziz Medal, which has five categories, is conferred on individuals who render distinguished services to the kingdom or its institutions.

According to the Saudi Press Agency, the award acknowledged Field Marshal Munir’s efforts to deepen strategic cooperation and enhance ties between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia. Prince Khalid also congratulated him on assuming the role of Chief of Defence Forces and expressed good wishes for his tenure.

During the meeting, both sides reviewed the longstanding relationship between the two countries and discussed defence collaboration, regional security, and matters of shared interest, including international peace and stability.

In a separate statement, Pakistan’s military media wing said the medal represents Saudi Arabia’s highest national honour. It added that the award recognises Field Marshal Munir’s leadership, military service, and contributions to defence coordination, counterterrorism cooperation, and regional stability.
