Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb and Minister for Information Technology Shaza Fatima addressed a joint press conference, outlining key developments related to Pakistan’s digital and telecom roadmap.
Shaza Fatima announced that the government is preparing to auction 600 MHz of spectrum. She said 5G services will be introduced in Pakistan soon and that the entire process is expected to be completed within the next four to six months.
The ECC has approved the recommendations of the Spectrum Advisory Committee, said Muhammad Aurangzeb.
She emphasized that the internet is the foundation of the entire digital system and said the government aims to improve both internet speed and access across the country. She further stated that efforts are underway to complete the spectrum auction in the last week of January or the first week of February 2026.
IT Minister Shaza Fatima said the approved recommendations of the Spectrum Advisory Committee will soon be presented to the federal cabinet. She added that consultations with the telecom sector and other relevant stakeholders will be ensured as part of the process.
Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb said the government is moving forward with the Digital Pakistan program. He confirmed that the Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) has approved the recommendations of the Spectrum Advisory Committee.
