A weightlifting tournament will be held on Thursday, 25 December 2025, to mark the 149th birth anniversary of the Founder of Pakistan, Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah.
The event will take place at the Elite Training Centre, Nishtar Park, Punjab Stadium, Lahore.
The tournament aims to pay tribute to the Father of the Nation through competitive sports and promote the spirit of weightlifting across the country. The competitions will begin at 10:00 am.
The opening ceremony will be conducted by Nuzhat Jabeen, Chairperson of the Pakistan Weightlifting Federation.
Both men’s and women’s categories will be featured in the tournament, reflecting the growing participation and popularity of weightlifting throughout Pakistan.
Senior leader of Pakistan Muslim League (N) and former MNA Umar Suhail Zia Butt will attend the event as the Chief Guest. He will preside over the prize distribution ceremony at 2:00 pm, where medals and awards will be presented to athletes who deliver outstanding performances.
The tournament is being organized under the supervision of Rashid Nadeem Butt and Naila Maqsood Butt, serving as Organizing Secretaries.
A strong panel of technical officials will oversee the competition, including Abdul Sattar Rahi, Qaiser Iftikhar, Javed Asghar, Muhammad Zahoor, Kashif Ali, Asim Akbar, Awais Akbar, Adeeb Akram, Waqas Akbar, Abdullah Suhail Butt, Wasim Akram, Hafiz Imran Azizi, Zaheer Akram, and Abdul Ghaffar Akram.
