KRL Defeat PTV in President’s Cup Grade-I Final

Khan Research Laboratories (KRL) won the President’s Cup Grade-I title by defeating Pakistan Television (PTV) in the final at the National Bank Stadium after a strong bowling performance and a composed half-century from Shahzaib Khan.

PTV captain Shamyl Hussain’s decision to bat first proved costly as his side was bowled out for 164 in 40.2 overs despite his brisk half-century.

PTV had a poor start, losing opener Yasir Khan in the second over with just 12 runs on the board. Hussain then rebuilt the innings alongside Mohammad Mohsin, and the pair added 58 runs for the second wicket. Mohsin was dismissed for 22 by Ahmad Hassan in the 12th over.

Hussain kept the innings moving and shared brief partnerships with Mohammad Suleman and Mohammad Taha before Ahmad dismissed him in the 18th over. He was the highest scorer with 50 off 44 balls, hitting six fours and two sixes.

His dismissal led to a collapse, with PTV losing their remaining seven wickets for 74 runs.

Ahmad Hassan and Sufiyan Muqeem led KRL’s bowling attack with three wickets each. Ahmed Bashir picked up two wickets, while Iftikhar Ahmed and Hamza Nazar claimed one wicket apiece.

KRL chased down the 165-run target with six wickets in hand and 92 balls remaining. Opener Shahzaib Khan led the chase with 53 off 83 balls, hitting four fours and a six.

He was supported by fellow opener Saad Baig, who scored 23, and captain Iftikhar Ahmed, who made 25. After Shahzaib was dismissed, Muhammad Amir Barki and Hamza Nazar finished the chase with an unbeaten 31-run partnership.

For PTV, Faisal Akram took three wickets for 51 runs, while Ali Usman picked up two and Israr Hussain took one.
