Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU) has introduced a new subject-wise two-year degree program that allows students to earn a degree in a specific subject within a shorter time.
University officials said the program has been launched as a special option for students who do not wish to pursue a four-year degree. After completing two years of study, students will be awarded their degree.
Students will also have the opportunity to continue their education in the future by enrolling directly in the fifth semester of an honours degree in the same subject.
The university clarified that this initiative is separate from the existing two-year Associate Degree program.
The decision to introduce this program was made after low enrollment was observed in four-year degree programs. The aim is to make higher education more accessible and flexible for students.
Under the new scheme, students will benefit from greater academic flexibility and will be able to complete their desired degree in less time.
