More than 30,000 public and private educational institutions across Punjab have been connected to the Safe City system to strengthen security and real-time monitoring.
Under the initiative, representatives of schools, colleges, and universities will update their security status three times a day through a dedicated Public Safety App, allowing authorities to monitor safety with a single click.
Officials said the Virtual Centre for Educational Security has been made fully operational.
So far, 30,000 institutions and over 130,000 teachers and security staff have been registered under the system. Installation of the Public Safety App has been made mandatory for institutional staff.
In case of any threat or emergency, the system will automatically issue alerts.
Authorities are also linking educational institutions’ CCTV cameras to the Safe City network for live monitoring, while installation of panic buttons in institutions has entered its final phase.
Officials expressed confidence that the virtual security center will not only enhance the protection of educational institutions but also assist in the investigation of security-related incidents.
