Likely Name of New PSL Team Revealed

The proposed name of Pakistan Super League’s (PSL) newest team is beginning to surface as fresh details emerge about the Hyderabad-based franchise.

According to reports, the FKS Group, led by US-based Fawad Sarwar, is considering naming its newly acquired Hyderabad franchise Kingsmen Hyderabad. The name is understood to be under discussion as the ownership group explores branding options ahead of the team’s debut.

The reported choice appears to align with the group’s existing cricket footprint in the United States. FKS Group also owns Chicago Kingsmen, making a “Kingsmen” brand extension a logical fit as they enter Pakistan’s premier T20 league.

FKS Group secured the seventh PSL franchise ahead of PSL 11. The Hyderabad-based team was sold during a high-profile auction held at the Jinnah Convention Centre in Islamabad.

The group reportedly won the bid after offering Rs 1.75 billion (around $6.25 million) for the franchise.

Meanwhile, the other new PSL team has already moved quickly on branding and team-building. OZ Developers have announced the name of their Sialkot-based franchise as Sialkot Stallionz and have also made an early off-field appointment ahead of PSL 11 by bringing in Pakistan great Shahid Afridi as the team’s mentor.

With expansion teams now in place and preparations underway, fans can expect more announcements in the coming weeks as the new franchises finalize their identities and begin assembling their backroom staff and squads.
