Saudi Arabia’s Northern Region Records -3°C Temperature

The governorate of Turaif in Saudi Arabia’s Northern Borders Region recorded the lowest temperature in the kingdom on Wednesday as mercury dropped to -3°C, according to the National Center for Meteorology (NCM).

The NCM confirmed that a strong cold air mass has settled over the region, covering large areas in frost and causing ice formation on roads and open plains. Officials described the conditions as among the coldest spells of the current winter season.

In an advisory, the NCM urged the public to take precautionary measures against the sharp temperature drop, warning that the risk of ice formation is highest during overnight and early morning hours.

Weather stations across the Northern Borders Region remain on high alert as authorities continue to monitor the movement of the cold wave, which is expected to expand toward central parts of the kingdom.

The cold snap follows earlier meteorological warnings issued last week, advising residents to limit outdoor exposure during peak cold hours and to use heating systems safely.
