Australian All-Rounder Apologizes to Usman Tariq

Australia’s Cameron Green has apologized to Usman Tariq after accusing the Pakistan spinner of chucking during the second T20 match between Pakistan and Australia in Lahore.

The incident occurred during Australia’s run chase on Saturday at Gaddafi Stadium. In the 11th over, Green miscued a wide delivery from Tariq and was caught at point for 35, leaving Australia struggling at 6–76.

As he walked back toward the dugout, Green was seen mimicking a baseball-style throwing action, a gesture widely interpreted as accusing Tariq of bowling with an illegal action. Despite the gesture, there was no indication that the Australian team or match officials lodged a formal complaint against Tariq’s bowling action.

The 30-year-old spinner, playing only his third T20 international, finished with figures of 2–16 from 2.4 overs and also dismissed Matthew Kuhnemann.

Australia’s innings soon collapsed, with the visitors bowled out for 108 in 15.4 overs. All ten wickets fell to spin as Pakistan sealed a crushing 90-run victory. The loss was Australia’s heaviest defeat in T20 internationals in 21 years and gave Pakistan an unassailable 2–0 lead in the three-match series.

After the match, players from both teams were seen mingling near the pitch in a relaxed and sportsmanlike atmosphere. Green walked up to Tariq, who was standing with his Pakistan teammates, and appeared to speak directly to him.

While the conversation is not audible, the two shared a handshake and a respectful exchange. Green’s calm and conciliatory demeanor during the interaction led to widespread belief that he was personally apologizing for his earlier on-field gesture.

The matter later spilled onto social media. On Sunday morning, Tariq posted a video of a crying child on Instagram with the caption, “After getting out,” along with a laughing emoji, seemingly mocking Green’s reaction to his dismissal.

The following day, Tariq posted another message reading, “Apology accepted,” further indicating that Green had apologized and that the issue had been settled.
