Pakistani social media went into a frenzy when four former Pakistani cricket stars suddenly and almost simultaneously took to social media to vaguely announce the ‘selection’ of former players. The cryptic posts led fans to believe their favourite heroes might be making a comeback at the national or international level.
In separate videos shared on their respective social media handles across Facebook, Instagram and X, former Pakistan cricket team captains Younis Khan and Shoaib Malik, all-rounder Abdur Razzaq, ‘Jadugar’ spinner Saeed Ajmal, and comedian and TV anchor Tabish Hashmi hinted at the return of retired players through some ongoing or upcoming “selection”. Some players suggested they wanted to be part of it, while others said they would be commenting on it at a later stage.
However, none of them made it clear whether the “selection” referred to a return to the Pakistan cricket team, participation in the Pakistan Super League (PSL), or a management or coaching role with the Pakistan Cricket Board. As a result, fans were left guessing.
The repeated use of the word “selection” and the lack of clarity only added to the confusion. Fans flooded the comment sections of each celebrity’s social media accounts with questions and speculation.
Confusion reigned supreme
So did curiosity
While some welcomed the prospect of seeing their favourite heroes back on the field, others believed the posts could be hinting at a television-related project, possibly involving Tabish Hashmi, especially with the ICC T20 Cricket Tournament 2026 just around the corner.
Many users even turned to X’s witty AI chatbot, Grok, to decode the mystery, but remained clueless about the reality of the entire saga.
The cricket stars, as promised, are expected to clear the air sooner or later. Until then, fans will continue guessing and piling up comments across Facebook, Instagram, and X.
