A comprehensive report by the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics and FAFEN (Free and Fair Election Network) has assessed public schools across Punjab using more than a dozen education and infrastructure indicators.
The evaluation covered enrollment rates, examination results, availability of clean drinking water, electricity, and other essential facilities to measure overall education quality and school performance.
According to the report, Rahim Yar Khan ranked among the lowest-performing districts in Punjab, placing in the bottom three in educational rankings.
The district also recorded one of the lowest literacy rates in the province, following Rajanpur and Dera Ghazi Khan.
In contrast, Lahore demonstrated significant improvement in educational performance. With education facilities and service availability reaching around 80 percent, Lahore secured the fifth position among Punjab districts.
Officials say the findings highlight both progress in major urban centres and ongoing challenges in underdeveloped districts, underscoring the need for targeted reforms in education infrastructure and quality.
