CDA to Start Work on Rs. 3.58 Billion Road Project Soon

The Capital Development Authority (CDA) will begin work on the final stretch of Margalla Avenue after opening financial bids for the project. CDA Chairman Mohammad Ali Randhawa reviewed progress during a meeting on ongoing and upcoming development schemes.

The Rs. 3.58 billion project involves construction of a 2.7 kilometer section to connect Margalla Avenue with Motorway M-1. CDA has already opened technical bids and will open financial bids to award the contract.

The project also includes construction of an interchange on GT Road. The road will end near the Sangjani Grid Station within Islamabad’s limits.

The National Highway Authority (NHA) has started work on a separate 2.5 kilometer portion in Rawalpindi to link the road with M-1 near AWT Housing Society.

During the meeting, CDA also reviewed the proposed model graveyard at Pandoriyan. Mohammad Ali Randhawa directed the engineering wing to finalize the design and ensure road access, prayer halls, ablution areas and adequate parking.

He also directed inclusion of an electric hearse, ambulance services and CCTV surveillance. The graveyard will also serve the housing scheme in Kuri.

CDA discussed traffic improvement projects at Kashmir Chowk, Express Chowk to Aga Khan Avenue and Eleventh Avenue. The authority has initiated consultant hiring for the Expressway Service Road East project and reviewed progress on the Islamabad Convention Centre and Expo Centre.

  • CDA has done a pathetic job on the Margalla and Iran Avenues. Both these major highways could not last even a year before repair and patch work needs started emerging. CDA lacks modern engineering competence and fails to fullill quality assurance and supervision of awarded work. News organizations like yours in addition to just reporting should hold CDA to account for it’s lapses/wasting and pocketing public funds.

  • Fantastic work in progress and already completed one point I may add that the fly over at T chowk needs right turning from express way towards Rawalpindi on GT road where the old U turn has been retained either underground or over head turning is required
