Apple has announced refreshed versions of the MacBook Air and MacBook Pro, now powered by its latest generation M5 processors. The company also introduced two updated models in the Studio Display lineup. Both the MacBook Air and Pro have received price hikes, with the Pro getting a major price hike.
MacBook Air With M5
The 2026 MacBook Air is equipped with the Apple M5 chip, first introduced last year on the 14-inch MacBook Pro and iPad Pro. The chip retains the 10-core CPU and 8 or 10-core GPU configuration of the M4 but features faster cores. Each GPU core now includes a neural accelerator.
Base storage has increased from 256GB to 512GB, with options now extending up to 4TB. The base memory remains at 16GB and can be configured up to 32GB.
Connectivity upgrades include Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 6. Apple has also replaced the previous 30W and 35W chargers with a new 40W Dynamic Power Adapter with 60W maximum output.
Pricing has increased by $100. The 13-inch MacBook Air now starts at $1,099, while the 15-inch model begins at $1,299.
MacBook Pro With M5 Pro and M5 Max
The MacBook Pro lineup introduces the new M5 Pro and M5 Max processors. The 14-inch model is available with M5, M5 Pro, or M5 Max configurations. The 16-inch version is offered only with M5 Pro and M5 Max.
The M5 Pro and M5 Max use Apple’s Fusion Architecture, combining two dies into a single system-on-chip to increase core counts. These chips feature up to six high-performance “super cores” and up to twelve performance cores. GPU options range from 16 to 40 cores.
On the 14-inch MacBook Pro, the M5 Pro can be configured with a 15-core CPU and 18-core GPU. Both 14-inch and 16-inch models also offer an 18-core CPU and 20-core GPU configuration. The M5 Max is available in 18-core CPU with 32-core GPU and 18-core CPU with 40-core GPU variants.
Memory starts at 24GB for M5 Pro models and can be configured up to 128GB with the M5 Max. Storage now begins at 1TB and goes up to 8TB.
Like the MacBook Air, the MacBook Pro models support Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 6. Pricing has increased by $200. The 14-inch MacBook Pro with M5 Pro starts at $2,199, while the 16-inch model starts at $2,699.
Studio Display and Studio Display XDR
Apple also introduced an updated Studio Display and a new Studio Display XDR.
The refreshed Studio Display adds a 12MP webcam, a three-microphone array, a six-speaker system with spatial audio, and Thunderbolt 5. The remaining specifications remain unchanged, including the 27-inch 5K 60Hz IPS panel. Pricing stays at $1,599.
The new Studio Display XDR features a 27-inch 5K IPS panel with a 120Hz refresh rate. It incorporates a mini-LED backlighting system with 2,304 local dimming zones. Peak brightness reaches 1,000 nits in SDR and 2,000 nits in HDR, compared to the standard Studio Display’s 600 nits peak brightness. It also supports additional reference color gamut modes, including Adobe RGB.
The Studio Display XDR includes a tilt-and-height-adjustable stand, while the standard Studio Display offers only tilt adjustment.
The Studio Display XDR is priced at $3,299 and replaces the discontinued Pro Display XDR.
