Under the initiative, the general public will be able to use public transport in the federal capital without paying fares during the 30-day period.
The Ministry of Interior will bear the financial cost of the scheme, which has been estimated at Rs. 350 million.
The development comes after the government announced a sharp increase in fuel prices, raising petrol by Rs. 137.23 per litre, or 42.7 percent, to Rs. 458.41, while high-speed diesel was increased by Rs. 184.49 per litre, or 55 percent, to Rs. 520.35.
