Pakistan will make history in 2026 by participating in the inaugural FIH Para Hockey World Cup, marking a major step forward for inclusive sport in the country.
The first-ever tournament, organized by the International Hockey Federation (FIH), will take place from August 20 to August 24, 2026, across Belgium and the Netherlands.
The event will feature a 6-a-side Para Hockey format designed for athletes with intellectual disabilities, highlighting the sport’s focus on diversity and inclusion.
Pakistan has been placed in Pool A and will play all of its matches in Belgium. The team is set to face Belgium, Italy, Germany, France, Zambia, the United States, and Paraguay during the group stage.
Pool B matches will be played in the Netherlands and include teams from the Netherlands, Spain, Bulgaria, England, India, Malaysia, Chile, and Argentina, completing a strong international lineup.
Matches will be hosted at HC Myra in Amstelveen and Louvain-La-Neuve HC in Belgium. The finals are scheduled to take place at Wagener Stadium and Belfius Hockey Arena, venues that will also host the 2026 FIH Hockey World Cup.
FIH President Tayyab Ikram described the event as a major milestone, emphasizing its importance in promoting inclusion and expanding opportunities for athletes with intellectual disabilities worldwide.
Para Hockey, introduced around 14 years ago, continues to grow rapidly, with more than 30 national associations now involved. The format also features mixed-gender teams, further reinforcing its inclusive nature.
