The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government is considering expanding the Peshawar Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) system to additional districts as part of plans to strengthen the province’s public transport network.
Officials said proposals are under review to extend the Peshawar Bus Rapid Transit to Charsadda, Nowshera and Khyber districts.
The proposals were discussed during a meeting of the Planning and Development Department chaired by Chief Minister Muhammad Sohail Afridi, where projects for the upcoming ADP 2026-27 were evaluated.
The meeting also reviewed plans to procure new electric buses for the BRT fleet and introduce double-decker electric buses to support tourism.
Officials said the measures are aimed at improving connectivity, promoting sustainable transport and enhancing travel facilities across the province.

I travelled on brt Peshawar, it’s very good service but fully choked all the time, busses not enough. I suggest, first of all they should double the number of busses in Peshawar.
Sir , BRT , is the best . Facilities for aged , senior citizen and disabled to be extended. These people to be picked from their homes to BRT Stop on nominal charges . BRT stop at itwar bazar-north to be made comfortable, no shade etc
