Former Punjab Education Minister Calls Lahore a ‘Sh*t Bag’

Former Punjab Education Minister Murad Raas has sparked backlash after calling Lahore a “sh*t bag” in a post on X, days after praising the city for being peaceful during the Eid holidays.

Raas had earlier posted on May 31 that Lahore felt calmer during Eid, especially because of lighter traffic, and claimed that “outsiders” were responsible for ruining the city.

In his latest tweet after the holidays, he quoted that earlier statement and wrote:

I rest my case. Look at Lahore today. It is a ‘SHIT BAG’.

The remarks quickly went viral and drew criticism online, with many users accusing the former minister of using insulting language for the provincial capital and promoting an unnecessary divide between Lahore’s residents and people from other areas.

Critics also pointed out that Raas himself is not originally from Lahore and said the city has historically grown through migration, commerce, and people arriving from other parts of Punjab and Pakistan.
