Public Paying Rs. 200/kg Extra for LPG in Punjab

LPG prices have surged across Punjab despite the government fixing the official retail price at Rs. 308 per kilogram, with consumers in Lahore paying as much as Rs. 480 to Rs. 500 per kilogram.

According to market sources, retailers in several parts of Lahore and other cities in Punjab are selling LPG well above the notified rate. Prices are being increased by Rs. 10 to Rs. 20 per kilogram on a daily basis at the discretion of shopkeepers.

The sharp price difference has placed an additional financial burden on households that rely on LPG for cooking and other domestic needs.

Responding to the reports, Federal Petroleum Minister Ali Pervaiz Malik said the government would take action against those involved in selling LPG above the official price. He added that notices are being issued to LPG marketing companies and directed the relevant authorities to ensure strict enforcement of the notified rates.

The minister also instructed officials to intensify action against hoarding and profiteering to curb illegal price hikes and protect consumers.
