Samsung Reportedly Producing More Galaxy Z Fold8 Wide Ahead of Launch

Samsung is reportedly preparing more units of the Galaxy Z Fold8 Wide than the Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra and Galaxy Z Flip8 ahead of its next Galaxy Unpacked event.

A new supply chain report claims Samsung has set the production target for the Galaxy Z Fold8 Wide at around 2.8 million units. In comparison, the Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra is reportedly planned at around 2 million units, while the Galaxy Z Flip8 is expected to see production of around 1.5 million units.

Samsung Expects Higher Demand for Fold8 Wide

The higher production target suggests Samsung expects stronger demand for the wide-screen Galaxy Z Fold8.

According to Android Authority, Samsung had originally planned similar production volumes for the Galaxy Z Fold8 Wide and Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra. However, the company has reportedly adjusted its plans because it expects the wider model to sell better.

The Galaxy Z Fold8 Wide is expected to use a 4:3 aspect ratio, which could make it feel closer to a small tablet when opened. Industry sources cited in the report also suggest that this wider foldable format may become more common in the market.

Apple Foldable Competition Looms

The timing also matters because Apple is rumored to be preparing its own foldable iPhone.

The report links Samsung’s wider foldable strategy to Apple’s expected foldable device, which is also rumored to use a similar 4:3 aspect ratio. Samsung appears to be positioning the Galaxy Z Fold8 Wide as a direct response to that upcoming competition.

Expected Specs

Samsung has not officially confirmed the Galaxy Z Fold8 Wide’s specifications yet.

However, recent leaks suggest the phone will use a Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for Galaxy chipset. It is also expected to feature a 7.6-inch inner display, a 5.5-inch cover screen, a 4,800mAh battery, and a dual rear camera setup.

Leaked images shared by Evan Blass also point to a shorter and wider design for the Galaxy Z Fold8, matching earlier reports about Samsung’s new foldable form factor.
