Nokia 5 Officially Launches in Pakistan

Nokia’s second Android smartphone is now available in Pakistan. The Nokia 5 is a mid-range smartphone which is a slightly toned down version of the Nokia 6.

For the sake of comparison Nokia 5 is quite similar to the Samsung Galaxy J7 Nxt launched in India. However it comes at a slightly higher price of Rs. 20,900 ($180 for J7 Nxt).

Design and Display

At first glance, the Nokia 5 looks completely identical to the Nokia 6, and rightly so: both of the phones are made from a single block of 6000 series aluminium and are exactly the same from the front. That’s where all the similarities end however.

The vertical camera strip on the back is longer for the Nokia 5 and the phone has a glossy metal finish as opposed to Nokia 6’s matte finish.

There’s a front mounted fingerprint sensor on the Nokia 5 as well.

It has a 5.2 inch HD (1280 x 720) IPS LCD display with a pixel density of 282.42 PPI.

Internals and Storage

Nokia 5 is powered by an octa core Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 processor. It comes with 2 GB RAM and 16 GB internal storage, expandable via a microSD card slot.

On the OS side of things, Android 7.1.1 Nougat runs the show, with slight modifications made by Nokia (different homescreen icons and other tidbits). The OS will be updated regularly so you can rest assured about staying up to date.

Camera and Battery

For the main camera, Nokia 5 uses a 13 MP f/2.0 sensor with PDAF and a dual LED (dual tone) flash. Video recording is unfortunately limited to 1080p at most.

The secondary camera employs an 8 MP f/2.0 shooter.

A 3,000 mAh removable battery keeps the lights on for Nokia 5. Battery life is one of its strong points, competing against the likes of Xiaomi Mi5s and Samsung Galaxy S8.

    • A product made in china does’nt mean it is of low quality. It depends on the standards of the company. If the company is relaiable it will mentain the standards no matter the product is manufacturing in China or even in Afghanistan.

    • Same foxconn built this which is building iphone for years… so you are right on this one, overpriced junk from china

        • What problems bro?????
And tell me which company does not have problems???
          Everyone has problems

        • Problem ye he k sasty me acha Hardware de rha
          Ye kya kam Problem hai
          Baaqi Brands k liay.?
          Love for MI
          Simple
          :D

          • people are just ignorant and blind

typical pakistani attitude … Xiaomi is the only company still offering good value for money (their 5x is some way off tho, using old hardware :/)

            • 5X is going to be best in the Provided Sum of Amount
Yup People Need QMobile But Need Apple Logo on Back of Cover
              :p

              • umm … 5x is the WORST offering from Xiaomi in recent times ?

do you have any idea how mediocre the 625 is ? the Graphics Accelerator is just down right dumb …

it’s better to spend the money on some other brand rather than going for 5x !

                agree on ur second point

                  • lol, is that a maneuver to get my expertise for free ?

i know like 4 phones which have better hardware and come without gimmicks !

                    oh and guess what …

                    THEY COST LESS

    • chinese mobiles are great … but the pricing is visibly disappointing

don’t confuse quality with poor pricing

warna to iPhone bhi China me banta hai !

P.S : this phone has been reviewed and said to have one of the BEST mid-range cameras for the price, better than Nokia 6 !

      • I have LeEco max 2. I think it is still not that bad as other priced smartphones. But I hate small battery , no nougat and no SDcard slot

        • how much did it set you back and where did you get it from ?

i was hot on its trial … but i heard the customs guys had gotten much more sly and started charging taxes by googling the Phone’s MSRP first, so i walked away :/

    • Because of fast updates. I heard that nagout’s latest update will come to NOKIA before anything.

      • Nokia is already running 7.1.1 naugat…. And it launched with 7.update Xiaomi is in process of updating

        • Yeah nokia will provide faster updates not only because they have fewer phones but also they want to be a key player again in market
On the otherhand xiaomi has many devices to be update and also if you dont like miui custom roms are availaible
Nokia phones are just selling on hype

      • Bro xiaomi redmi note 4 has software support from developers
        It has many custom roms

        • Custom OS is something else brother. Official patches from Google thats what I’m talking about. Even Google Pixel is not offering this. Who will get Android O first.

          • Are you serious??? google pixel devices are first devices to get any google update
Mean android o will first hit pixel Pixel XL,and some nexus devices and than to other vendors

              • Im not talking about security updates im talking about new Android os release
And for your information as far as security patches are concer go sear h about blackberry android

          • Custom roms like linege os and remix os provides timely security patches
Not fast as google but they provide it timely

    • Cleaner more original software. Faster updates. More responsive probably since more cleaner android. Plus the Nokia name may entice a few too.

      • More responsive in your dreams bro
I think you didnt see the processor diffrence b/w those two phones which is huge

  • Just look at the reviews on youtube everyone says avoid NOKIA. You should be doing NO_KIA to NOKIA as this is overpriced junk.

  • Comparison b/w RN4 AND NK5 Performance wise RN4 due to processor
Camera wise both are okay maybe Nk5 better
    Battery wise RN4 KING
    SOFTWARE WISE YOU BETTER DECIDE
BOTH PROVIDE UPDATES NK5 faster and pure updates xiaomi also provides updates but slowly and skinned but also the have third party developers support for RN4 ,means many custom roms
Build quality wise both are top notch
Storage wise RN4 all the way.Double storage in same price
Display wise RN4 both are full hd but RN4 has better ppi

  • Just think about it why everyone rushes to China for manufacturing why that could not be Pakistan, if two wrongs never make a right so would be three.

  • I checked page of Advance Telecom company on Facebook, they have made no announcement of the launch yet. Where is this sold officially & with warranty?

How is this officially launched? Who is the company selling it? I thought Advance Telecom was the ONLY distributor in Pakistan for Nokia phones. It was even reported on this site a few weeks ago.
