Xiaomi’s Android One smartphones have followed the Mi X series when it comes to specifications and design. However, based on a few rumors and leaks, this is going to change this year.
The upcoming Android One smartphones from Xiaomi will be based on the new selfie oriented CC9 series with a few chipset modifications. Both A3 and A3 Lite are expected to get an upgraded chipset compared to their MIUI siblings.
The Mi A3 will be powered by a Snapdragon 730 chipset, compared to the CC9 which is powered by an SD 710. The SD 730 comes with more powerful cores with a new Adreno 618 GPU that promises a 25 percent boost over the 710.
Mi A3 Lite, on the other hand, is getting the Snapdragon 675 as compared to the SD 665 used in CC9e. The lite model may also get a display upgrade, changing the screen resolution from 720p to 1080p. The display upgrade has not been confirmed yet.
The design of Mi A3 and A3 lite is expected to be largely similar to the CC9 duo which means, the headphone jack might just make it back to the popular series again.
Last week, a Xiaomi model M1906F9SH smartphone, which represents the Mi CC9e, was passed the FCC and IMDA certification. FCC revealed that the smartphone was an Android One handset featuring a triple camera setup with a 48 MP main camera.
