Pakistan ODI and T20I captain and star batsman, Babar Azam, is mentally ready to take up the captaincy of the national Test team from Azhar Ali after receiving the go-ahead from Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB).
According to details, PCB has not discussed this matter with Azhar Ali yet and will take him into confidence first before officially announcing Babar Azam as the new Test captain.

Things are getting difficult for the incumbent Test captain as Central Punjab, under Azhar’s leadership, has lost both of their opening matches of the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy.
Azhar Ali was appointed as the Test captain last year as a replacement for Sarfaraz Ahmed. However, his performances as a batsman and captain since then have been questioned by cricket experts.

Last month, reports had suggested that the PCB is mulling over replacing Azhar Ali either with Babar Azam or Mohammad Rizwan as the Test captain.
Being a mainstay of the batting line-up in all three formats and the captain of the limited-overs sides, Babar Azam seems to be the best choice to lead Pakistan in Test matches.
