Asim Azhar Delivers Adhan for Friday Prayers in Melbourne [Video]

Arch-rivals India and Pakistan are set to face off on 23 October for the T20i World Cup in Australia.

Pop singer Asim Azhar gave the adhan for Jummah in Central Melbourne today ahead of the highly anticipated World Cup match between arch-rivals Pakistan and India at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG).

A video clip of the Pakistani singer-songwriter, dressed in black, wearing a taqiyah (traditional Muslim cap) delivering a call to Friday prayer in front of a congregation has gone viral all over social media.

 

People online appreciated the Jo Tu Na Mila singer for performing this religious duty. Several tweeps responded to the video saying, “MashaAllah”.

A New World Cup Anthem

The Habibi singer, who’s a huge cricket fanatic, made headlines on social media on Wednesday with the release of Pakistan’s World Cup anthem, Khel Dil Mein Hai, with fellow artists Meesha Shafi, Eva B, and Abdullah Siddiqui.
