Video Clip of Female Singer at NCS University Peshawar Sparks Public Outrage [Video]

A video clip of a female singer performing at the NCS University Peshawar in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) has sparked public outrage on social media since Thursday night. The woman, dressed in a revealing black outfit, sang Cardi B’s Bodak Yellow on stage in front of a crowd of young students and college staff in attendance, but things went south fast.

People on social media slammed the college’s administration for their involvement in what is described as an ‘unethical and immoral dance event’. Twitterati even told the authorities to take strict action against the university’s management.

Not acceptable at all. What was done in Peshawar University was not just a concert but the extreme of indecency. We are sending our children to learn academic skills and ethics, not to dance half-naked. You can adapt it if it suits you. Action needs to be taken.

The public backlash prompted a quick response from the Campus Director of NCS University Peshawar. In his video message, he apologized to the public for the recent incident and said that the event had been hosted and organized by a foreign company.

According to the director, the university had merely provided the venue for the event. He claimed that the musical concert at the end of the event was a surprise for the university administration because the organizers had not disclosed or shared any information about the featured act with it.

Amid public outcry, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Minister for Higher Education, Kamran Bangash, tweeted a picture of a show-cause notice that has been issued to the university.

NCS University Peshawar has been directed to submit its response within three days and failure to do so may result in the termination of the university’s affiliation.

The Event

The concert of was part of the Hunar Mela event organized by NCS Peshawar University to promote Pakistani culture and craft. However, whether Cardi B has any Pakistani heritage is seriously questionable.
