Babar Ali Has Some Strong Words for Sunny Deol

The veteran actor spoke out against Bollywood’s cheap antics of producing anti-Pakistan propaganda films

Renowned actor Babar Ali didn’t mince words when expressing his views on Bollywood’s recurring practice of making anti-Pakistan films.

In a candid discussion on Nadir Ali’s podcast, Babar Ali shared his thoughts on Bollywood’s portrayal of Pakistan, particularly in Sunny Deol’s recent film, Gadar 2.

While Sunny Deol’s Bollywood comeback with Gadar 2 has been a massive success in India, it hasn’t escaped criticism for its portrayal of Pakistan. The film has been accused of promoting racist stereotypes and negatively depicting various aspects of Pakistani culture and society.

Babar Ali, during the podcast conversation, congratulated Sunny Deol for the revival of his career through iconic remakes but also had a poignant message for the Indian actor. He stated,

You can remake films, but if you will denigrate Pakistan, I cannot respect you. I’m not here to discourage you from contributing positively to your own country, but that should not come at the expense of tarnishing Pakistan’s image. Pakistan has produced numerous films, and we’ve never disparaged any country. This is the fundamental difference between us and them. We always extend respect to artists, and when you visited Pakistan, we welcomed you wholeheartedly.
