Mahira Khan is a household name in Pakistan since she made her debut as an actress with Humsafar and Bol. The actress isn’t just growing older but her name’s growing far bigger with each year. Oh, and she just turned 34 today!
The Raees starlet is loved more for her level head and grounded nature, although everyone adores her spectacular performances. So as a tribute for the movie star’s birthday we’re counting down some of her greatest moments this year.

As the year started, right of the bat Mahira Khan won the award for best actress at the Lux Style Awards, for her 2017 film Verna. The political and controversial subject matter didn’t stop audiences from swarming in to see the film.
2. An Activist in her own right
Since her debut serial Humsafar, to her role in drama Sadqay Tumhare, the actress picks characters that range from fierce to ironclad introverts. Even the spectrum of her film roles between Bol and Verna has been politically charged and captivating.
With the exception of the playfully mellow role she played in film 7 Din Mohabbat In her roles have always been thought-provoking. Which is why Mahira was honored with the Contribution to Film and Activism Award at the UK Asian Film Festival.
She even got to share the stage with Bollywood veteran Simi Garewal after accepting her award.
3. She made it to the Cannes
If the Bin Roye actress hadn’t done Pakistan proud already, she’s the first Pakistani to attend the Cannes Film Festival. Mahira was invited to attend the prestigious film festival as a L’Oreal Hair and Care brand ambassador.
While numerous Bollywood actresses such as Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Sonam Kapoor have attended the festival as L’Oreal ambassadors, Mahira is the first Pakistani artist to be invited to do so.
4. She’s an ambassador for UN Human Commission for Refugees
The actress’ social activist isn’t just limited to her film roles and she became Pakistan’s United Nations Ambassador for Refugees.
