While we’d expect to see mostly Bollywood stars in Eastern Eye’s Sexiest Asian Woman 2018 list, our very own Mahira Khan also made it into the top 5.
Eastern Eye, which is a UK-based and predominately Indian-owned weekly publication annually releases this list which celebrates beautiful Asian women. This time around,
While the battle for the top spot remained between Ram Leela’s Deepika Padukone and Desi girl Priyanka Chopra. Deepika held the throne till Priyanka knocked her out last year. But this year Deepika is back to the top of the rankings.
Third place was occupied by Indian television actress Nia Sharma, the actress that everyone well in love with when she played Manvi in Ek Hazaroon Mein Meri Behna Hai (2011).
Pakistani starlet Mahira Khan bagged the fourth place in these rankings. The Raees actress was grateful for the accolade and sent out a heartfelt message to fans, which had us squirm with joy but bin roye (happy tears). Last year Mahira Khan came in fifth.
“I am grateful to be part of this list once again. My fans are my strength so thank you to them. I think personally sexy is what sexy does and I hope to continue to work hard at what I do with as much as passion as I have been from the start,”
The English weekly certainly agrees because the women selected on this list were chosen based on their media coverage, activism and social campaigns.
That’s how Cake actress Sanam Saeed became the Editor’s Choice for 2018. The actress was selected for pushing creative boundaries in Pakistan and raising her voice for a number of burning social issues in the country including women’s empowerment.
The fifth place in the list went to Shivangi Joshi. The actress is most known for her role as Kaira in Ye Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai. She’s also the youngest on the list at age 20.
Other Bollywood actresses on the list include Alia Bhatt ranking 6th, Sonam Kapoor at 7th, Hina Khan at 8th(also from Ye Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai), Katrina Kaif at 9th and Niti Taylor in 10th place.
The highest place newcomer in the list at 18th place television’s is rising star Ashi Singh.
