TikToker Kanwal Aftab Under Fire for Suggesting Women to ‘Support’ Abusive Husbands

“Struggling to understand if that means cheering them on as they punch her?”

TikTok star Kanwal Aftab is facing backlash after giving concerning advice to a fan during an Instagram Q&A session.

The popular influencer, with over 2.8 million followers, was asked how a woman could cope with an abusive husband when she couldn’t find a good job. In response, Kanwal Aftab advised the fan to “try to support him” and “motivate him,” stating that divorce is not a solution.

Her comment sparked outrage among netizens, who argued that influencers should use their influence responsibly, as irresponsible advice can have serious consequences.

Netizens condemned Kanwal Aftab’s remarks, highlighting the importance of addressing domestic violence seriously and providing support to victims.

Kanwal Ahmed, the Founder of Soul Sisters Pakistan, called out Kanwal Aftab on Twitter, sharing a screenshot of her response, questioning if supporting an abusive husband meant cheering them on as they inflict harm. She tweeted,

Ahmed emphasized that women should not get married to ‘fix’ abusive men or validate their violent behavior.

The incident sparked a larger conversation about the responsibility of influencers to promote positive and empowering messages, especially when dealing with sensitive topics such as abuse.

Kanwal Aftab is one of the most followed social media celebrities in Pakistan. She is married to fellow TikTok star, Zulqarnain Sikandar. The TikTok couple has been blessed with a baby girl Aizal Zulqarnain last year in December.
