Malala Yousafzai And Her Family Arrive in Lahore

The young Nobel laureate is on a mission to promote access to education for young girls.

Nobel laureate, Malala Yousafzai landed in Lahore, Pakistan with her family via Virgin Atlantic flight VS-364 on Tuesday.

The renowned activist and her father, Ziauddin Yousafzai arrived in Lahore to promote access to science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics (STEAM) education for young girls as well as train teachers in Pakistan under a fellowship programme.

The young activist will also call on Pakistan’s Punjab Chief Minister, Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi during her week-long stay.

Malala on a Mission

According to reports, Malala and her father will be speaking to several key stakeholders in development, education, government, digital creators, media, and students along with the advocates for the Malala Fund Education Champion Network.

The father-daughter duo will join a group academic delegates from the Oxford Pakistan Programme (OPP) as well as representatives from the Malala Fund, over a series of events that aim to raise awareness of science education for girls in Pakistan.

Malala’s mission to help school-aged girls get access to STEAM education with the help of the Ministry of Federal Education, who can implement this ambitious initiative to over 13,000 government high schools all across the nation.

This is Malala Yousafzai’s third visit to Pakistan. The Nobel laureate came to her home nation earlier this year during the monsoon flood crisis. The young activist met with young women and families from the flood-hit communities of Sindh.

She raised awareness about the devastating situation in Pakistan to the international community but also her Malala Fund’s commitment to pledge over $700,000 for flood relief to organizations working in Pakistan.
